Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Management (E-Learning): A Guide
With over three billion internet users in Asia,1 it is no surprise that information technology (IT) and business are closely related. Today, most businesses have an online presence to reach wider markets, increasing the need for regulation and mastery of such technologies.
At Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), our Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Management (E-Learning) is designed to prepare the next generation of professionals with the skills they need to optimise IT usage and take it to the next level.
In this fully online programme, students must complete three core modules and one elective module. Each module provides students with the IT knowledge and techniques to thrive in the rapidly changing technology and business environments.
Core Modules: Master Essential IT Skills
Cybersecurity Management
Most companies today rely on cloud services for data storage, but did you know that 45% of data breaches occur in the cloud?2 With more and more organisations prioritising digital security, this module will teach you how to apply cybersecurity measures to prevent data breaches and protect sensitive information.
Data Privacy, Data Ethics and Governance
In this module, students will gain a solid understanding of the importance of protecting, storing, and managing corporate and consumer data, and help organisations comply with ethical standards for handling consumer data.
Emerging Technologies
Emerging technologies, such as the metaverse, cryptocurrency, and others, have changed the way we live our daily lives. In this hyper-connected world, professionals must be able to leverage these technologies to achieve the desired business results. In this module, students will learn how to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance business processes.
Elective Modules: Value-Added Expertise
Accounting and Finance for Managers
The ability to make financially sound decisions makes you a great asset in any company. This module trains students in fundamental accounting and financial concepts and practices, giving you a better understanding of the costs of business decisions, including those related to IT.
Cybersecurity Analytics and Insight
According to research by Trend Micro, only 50% of IT leaders believe that C-suite personnel fully understand cybersecurity risks.3 Hence, it is highly important to be able to obtain, manage, analyse, and communicate cybersecurity data analytics to non-IT professionals and leaders. This module will teach students just that.
Data Visualisation
Big data drives decision-making in business today, but not everyone knows how to properly communicate data insights. In this module, you will learn how to effectively communicate data findings to non-data experts using a variety of visualisation tools and techniques.
Leadership
A study has found that 70% of employees say their sense of purpose is defined by their work,4 which is in no small way impacted by the qualities of their leader. In this module, students will develop an understanding of the core competencies of leadership and learn how to implement effective leadership strategies.
People, Organisations and Teamwork
Collaboration plays a significant role in the success of both employers and employees. This module teaches IT professionals how to leverage techniques to implement effective collaboration efforts, to communicate and work efficiently with different teams.
